Former Broncos RB Terrell Davis Speaks On Denver's 'Dynasty'

When it comes to dynasties in the National Football League, it seems like everyone comes up with the same answers.

The Packers of the 60s, the Steelers of the 70s, and the 49ers in the 80s were certainly impressive, and now people are now talking about the 'dynasty' the Broncos had back in the late 90s.

During this 'dynasty,' the Broncos won back-to-back Super Bowls in the 1998 and 1999 seasons.

The 1997 club took out the mighty Green Bay Packers, and then in 1998 the Broncos dominated the Atlanta Falcons for their second Lombardi Trophy.

After that, the run came to a quick end when John Elway retired, the club struggled to find a quarterback, and then shortly thereafter they lost RB Terrell Davis in October of 1999 with a knee injury.

The former 2,000-yard rusher recently spoke with CBS Sports about those Denver teams, as well as how the Broncos were the Patriots before it was cool.

"We had really, really good players," Davis recently told CBS Sports.

"We had outstanding coaching. We had a solid system. We had a combination of really unselfish guys who played for each other who didn't really care who got the credit, and that's rare. And we had a singular focus. We were the Patriots before the Patriots.

"They talk about the 'Patriot Way,' well we had the 'Bronco Way.' We had players who didn't buy into that, and Mike moved them out of the locker room."

The Broncos have struggled the last few seasons, landing with two second-place finishes, two third-place finishes, and one second-place finish since the 2016 season.
