Former Broncos QB Paxton Lynch Inks With The CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Denver Broncos had high hopes for quarterback Paxton Lynch when they drafted him with the 26th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

As happens so often in the NFL, things didn't exactly work out for Lynch or the Broncos, and after just two seasons and four starts, he was released.

Lynch isn't calling it a career in pro football though, as he has now inked a deal with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

The former Memphis quarterback completed 79 of 128 passes for 792 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions in his brief time in the NFL.

After Denver let him go prior to the start of the 2018 season, he did have a cup of coffee with both the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers but never played for either team.

The CFL season will kickoff on August 5th, and the league has announced that they will play 14 games.

The 108th Grey Cup on December 12th in Hamilton, Ontario. The league canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For Lynch, it's another chance to do what he loves, which is playing professional football. Plenty of former NFL players have made the adjustment to the CFL and have been successful.

It remains to be seen whether Lynch falls into that group or will become an afterthought, a player with plenty of talent who never was.
