Football Team LB Jon Bostic Ejected, Not Expected To Be Suspended For Nasty Hit On Andy Dalton
Adam Schefter reported Monday morning that Washington Football Team linebacker Jon Bostic is not expected to be suspended for his hit on Andy Dalton during Sunday's game. The hit caused the Cowboys quarterback to leave the game. He never returned, and the team lost 25-3.
The lack of response from Dalton's teammates was puzzling, and coach Mike McCarthy didn't have any answers. Why didn't they react to their quarterback taking a knockout shot?
"We speak all the time about playing for one another, protecting one another,” McCarthy said after the game. “It definitely was not the response you would expect." Did Mike think it was a dirty hit? “I think we all understand clearly what the hit is.”
Football Team head coach Ron Rivera was disappointed in Bostic, a seven-year vet.
"I've got to see it on tape. I saw it, but you'd like to tell Jon he's got to be smarter than that," Rivera said after the game. "He's a veteran guy that knows. It's unfortunate because we had a three-and-out right there they could've had to punt. We could've gotten the ball back sooner. Jon's a savvy veteran guy, and that's a mistake that he shouldn't make."
