Falcons To Chat With Chiefs Bieniemy And Niners Saleh About Head Coaching Job
With the NFL regular season officially over, it's time for teams that have fired their coaches to start the process of interviewing candidates.
One highly sought after candidate this offseason will be Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, and according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Atlanta Falcons will get first crack at chatting with the 51-year-old.
It's been bantered about for awhile that Bieniemy is the "next big thing" when it comes to NFL head coaches. He's done an incredible job with the Chiefs as their OC since taking over in 2018.
Many felt that he would have a job last season, and it would be hard to think he's not going to be a NFL head coach by the time all the dust settles this offseason with the openings currently out there.
Another person on the Falcons' list is San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. Atlanta will also speak to him Monday about the coaching vacancy.
At just 41 years old, Saleh is one of the new breeds of young coaches. On Sunday, he finished his fourth season as the DC of the Niners. He also helped them reach the Super Bowl last season.
San Francisco was fifth in the NFL this past season, allowing 314.4 yards per game, and Saleh has been looked at as a big part of the reason for their success.
