DK Metcalf, Marshon Lattimore Fined Following MNF Clash
New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore and Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf were both hit with fines on Saturday for their repeated scuffles during their “Monday Night Football” battle in Week 7.
The league issued both Pro Bowlers fines with Lattimore being fined $10,815 and Metcalf's fine of $6,949 for unsportsmanlike conduct, ESPN reports.
Yahoo Sports reports Lattimore was penalized for unnecessary roughness multiple times during the Satins' 13-10 win over the Seahawks after he either shoved or swung at Metcalf without any clear reason either at the very beginning or end of a play.
Metcalf finished the night with two catches for 96 yards — one of which was an 84-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Although Lattimore was the one penalized during the game, Saints coach Sean Payton wasn’t too upset with his CB.
“I think he’s extremely competitive,” Payton said earlier this week, per ESPN. “I didn't think it was … I think when you watch the whole game, I said this , and I gotta be careful in how I word this. I didn't agree with all the calls that were made in that game. I did not think it was officiated well. But, yeah, there's an edge to how he plays. And I think that's what makes him one of the better corners in this league."
The Saints (4-2) face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-1) in Week 8 on Sunday at home with kick set for 3:25 CDT, while the Seahawks (2-5) will face the Jacksonville Jaguars with kickoff set for 1:05 p.m. PDT.
