Dan Quinn Would Be Big Upgrade for Dallas Cowboys Defense
Dan Quinn, who was fired as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons earlier this season, is the favorite to become the new defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN:
Quinn would be a big upgrade over Mike Nolan. He was the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks Legion of Boom team that demolished the Denver Broncos 48-3 in Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014.
Elite offensive or defensive coordinators like Quinn sometimes falter as head coaches when all of a sudden they have to face many more servings on their plate. When such coaches then return to a coordinator job, they usually excel.
Quinn wasn't even an abject failure as a head coach. As poorly as his time with the Falcons ended, they did reach a Super Bowl together (a game in which they infamously blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots). If I'm in the NFC East, Quinn is about the last guy I want the Cowboys hiring for the defensive coordinator job.
