Dak Has Super-High Expectations For CeeDee Lamb
After snagging 74 balls as a rookie, mostly without quarterback Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb has the Cowboys, and their quarterback, excited for what’s ahead.
“My expectations (for Lamb) are super-high,” Prescott told FanNation. “I’m so excited for CeeDee. He’s a special playmaker that we’re privileged to have, and he’ll be big-time and definitely have a breakout season.”
Drafted 17th overall a season ago, Lamb, a wide receiver, was a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy six-win Dallas season. His five touchdowns and 935 receiving yards look even more impressive when you consider that franchise quarterback Prescott was lost for the season after suffering a compound ankle fracture in Week 5.
When a fully recovered Dak returns to the lineup this fall, he’ll have a plethora of weapons at his disposal. Prescott will be joined by a slimmed down Zeke Elliott, and receivers Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and Lamb in what should be an explosive Dallas offense. Entering his second season in Big D, Lamb anticipates that both he and his teammates will be much improved, per FanNation: "I'm looking to be a better version of myself - to be better than last year. And if everyone has that mindset as a collective group, we'll be better.''
The proclamation of a “breakout season” for Lamb came after Dak spent a few days throwing to the former Oklahoma Sooner at Cowboys OTAs earlier this month.
"I'm so excited for just his growth from our five games together to just getting back out there in OTAs and throwing it to him and watching him get off the line, run routes, go up and get contested balls time and time again,'' Dak said. “It’s exciting. It’s exciting what he’s going to offer and it’s exciting what he brings to this whole receiving corps and this offense.''
Meeting or succeeding Dak’s super-high expectations could launch Lamb into superstar status with America’s Team.
