Could New England Move CB Stephon Gilmore Prior To The Start Of The 2021 Campaign?

The Patriots might have one last adjustment to make this offseason, as reports state that the team is at least thinking about making a move with veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Gilmore may still be moved prior to the season, according to reports, and since Gilmore becomes free agent after this upcoming season, it's critical for the Pats to unload Gilmore now if they ever plan to do so.

Ever since the 2020 season came to a close, there have been rumors of Gilmore being in trade talks, but no deals ever really got close to happening.

That doesn't mean that a deal can't get done during camp or during the early part of the season, but if the Pats want to take advantage and try and get a good return for Gilmore, they had better get more active talking to teams around the league.

If the Pats do wind up moving Gilmore, it wouldn't be the first time the Pats moved a big-name player with one year left on his contract.

Logan Mankins and Richard Seymour are two examples of players that Bill Belichick and the Pats moved in the last year of their deals, even though those players were still playing at a high level.

Along with Gilmore, J.C. Jackson is another big-name Pats player who could be playing elsewhere after this season. Jackson also has an expiring deal, so if the Pats want to bring him back, they will have to figure out a deal.
