Could Jets Pursue JuJu, Will Fuller To Improve WR Corps This Offseason?

The New York Jets had a tough time replacing Robby Anderson in 2020. The wide receiver left for the Carolina Panthers in free agency and put up a career year with his new offense.

New York, on the other hand, saw a significant drop-off at the position. Denzel Mims could have a bright future, but more help is needed for whoever starts at quarterback. But whom should the Jets go after?

Well, according to Jeremy Fowler with ESPN, it looks like there are at least two top free agent targets. The team is currently interested in JuJu Smith-Schuster and Will Fuller, two different type of receivers who could both be a quality addition.

At 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, Smith-Schuster is a big physical presence. In four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he hauled in 308 receptions for 3,726 yards and 26 scores. His best season came in 2018 when he had 111 catches for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns.

Fuller is a much leaner weapon (6-0, 184), but his ability to win vertically opens things up for an offense. He's never had a 1,000-yard season, but that's mostly due to his inability to stay on the field. He's been fantastic when he's been out there.

If the Jets manage to bring in quarterback Deshaun Watson, either one of these guys would make sense. Fuller's familiarity with Watson in Houston would certainly be a positive. That duo was lethal when healthy.

The Jets should pursue one or both of those guys, regardless of what happens with Watson. Whoever their quarterback is will need more reliable options at wide receiver. Jamison Crowder is steady and Mims is emerging, but that isn't nearly enough.

Don't be surprised if one of the top receivers on the market ends up wearing green and white in New York.
