Colts RB Nyheim Hines: Don't Look For Andrew Luck To Come Out Of Retirement

We all want to see the "he's back" headlines, right?

Andrew Luck has now been out of the league for two seasons, and it's still a bummer. He was only 29 years old when he made the decision to leave, which means we possibly missed out on another decade of the fun-loving beard.

He's only 31 now, too, and that means there's still a chance at a comeback, which we all wish could -- and would -- happen.

After a lot of speculation and rumors over the last several days, it looks like we are getting further and further away from any potential return. The latest evidence comes from Luck's former teammate and current Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines.

During a recent segment with Charean Williams on PFT PM, Hines was asked about the possibility. His response was less than encouraging.

"Absolutely not,” Hines said, via Pro Football Talk. “I don’t see it at all."

Well, that's unfortunate. The Colts are on the brink of having something special, and Luck would go a long way in helping the franchise make another Super Bowl push. Instead, Indianapolis will need to look elsewhere for a quarterback.

Hines apparently doesn't have any preferences, either.

"I trust in Chris Ballard and Jim Irsay and everybody on our staff to make the right choice for our team,” Hines said. “They’ve been doing a great job, and we’ve put a pretty good squad together over the past three years with Coach Frank Reich. I think whoever they bring in, they’re gonna be great for our organization."

Hines is correct on Ballard and Reich putting together a good squad. This team isn't perfect, but it's good enough to be one of the top teams in the league -- as long as it has consistent, effective play at the quarterback position.

Hopefully that comes one way or the other.
