Chargers Finally Pull Out Another Close Win on Late FG

The Los Angeles Chargers have a habit of keeping games close but not being able to pull out a win. Well, they do as long as you take out last week's 45-0 beating they took from the New England Patriots.

Los Angeles has played 13 games so far this season, and of those, nine have been decided by seven or less points. Heck, five of them have been a field goal or less.

Unfortunately, the Chargers having been on the losing end of most of those close games. That's a big reason why Sunday's 20-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons is only win No. 4 this season.

But they finally got over the hump, despite some terrible game management from Anthony Lynn to close the first half.

The difference came down to kicker Michael Badgley. After the offense went on a six-play, 49-yard drive with less than a minute left to go in the game, he hit a 43-yard field goal to win it.

Yes, it was a quality drive at the most crucial moment, but we can't ignore the fourth-quarter performance of both teams. This is the possession break-down over the final 15 minutes:

That is simply awful. Really, both teams deserved to lose just based on those final few minutes alone. OutKick owner Clay Travis certainly wasn't impressed.
