Chargers Coach Anthony Lynn Will Need 'Miracle' To Save Job

The Los Angeles Chargers are coming off an exciting overtime win over the rival Las Vegas Raiders, but it seems that won't be enough to keep Anthony Lynn employed as a head coach.

Instead, Lynn will need a "miracle" to return as Chargers' coach, according to NFL insider Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network.

"A West Coast source put the percentages of Lynn keeping his job at 20 percent, and that’s the best-case scenario," Pauline wrote. "The vast majority of what I’m hearing from well-connected people is that Lynn will be fired."

The Chargers improved to 5-9 after knocking off the Raiders on a last-minute touchdown dive by Justin Herbert. The rookie quarterback has had a fine first season and is said to have a strong bond with Lynn. But that may not even save Lynn's job.

Lynn led the Chargers to a 9-7 record in his first year (2017), then 12-4 the next. They plummeted to 5-11 last season, suddenly putting Lynn on the hot seat. Fair or not, that's just the way things work in the NFL. When things don't work out, the coach is usually the first to go. That seems to be the fate awaiting Lynn today.
