Carson Wentz 'Extremely' Frustrated With Eagles' Ineffectiveness

Sitting in first place in the NFC East apparently isn't enough for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. Instead, he's focusing on losing to the New York Giants 27-17 and the team's underwhelming 3-5-1 record. And for good reason.

For starters, the Eagles went 0-for-9 on third down on Sunday. And while for now they are kings of their division, they sport a record of 3-5-1 and appear to be headed to Nowhere Land.

“I knew we struggled on third down. I didn’t realize we were that poor,” Wentz told reporters. “Anytime you’re 0-for-9, you’re obviously not doing something very well. ... It’s extremely frustrating.”

There was a time, and not long ago, where Wentz was viewed as the Eagles' Tom Brady, a QB who would turn the franchise into a regular championship contender. It hasn't worked out that way. Today, he has come under fire from Eagles fans and media, and it's fair to wonder if he will be the main man under center long term.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson defended Wentz over comments made by Brett Favre last week. Favre said that the Eagles would be better off had they kept Nick Foles.

But none of that matters, as Wentz is the man under center, and he is clearly as frustrated as everyone else who roots for the Eagles is.

“We don’t go into a game thinking we’re going to struggle like that and go 0-for-9 on third downs and only put up a couple points,” Wentz said. “But I’ve got to give a lot of credit to that defense. I thought we had a good game plan ready to go. They made a lot more plays than us, and we didn’t deserve to win.”
