Browns CB Greedy Williams Dealing With Nerve Damage in Shoulder

The Cleveland Browns are currently in a division battle against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. But looking ahead to the future, the team is still waiting on a certain cornerback to work back from injury.

Of course, that cornerback is Greedy Williams.

The second-round pick out of LSU has been battling a severe shoulder injury that has kept him from playing this season. On Monday, Williams revealed via Twitter exactly what he's had to deal with as he works his way back.

Apparently, he's been rehabbing from axillary nerve damage in that shoulder, making his recovery a lot more difficult than anticipated.

Williams was supposed to be a major part of Cleveland's secondary this season. The 6-2, 185-pound defensive back started 12 games as a rookie last season, and he contributed 47 tackles and two pass deflections.

It isn't just Williams missing on the back half of the Browns defense, however. Fellow LSU product Grant Delpit, a rookie safety who was also a second-round pick, has been on the injured reserve with a ruptured Achilles since before the season began.

To combat that loss, the team went and traded for former Alabama safety Ronnie Harrison with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He looked like a valuable addition before he, too, landed on IR with a shoulder injury of his own.

But at least he's expected to be back at some point in the next couple weeks.

Those aren't the only secondary players who have missed time with injury, either. This Cleveland defense has suffered loss after loss, but the team is still somehow contending for the AFC North title at 9-3.

Maybe it will be 10-3 by the end of this game on Monday night.
