Broncos Won't Worry About Contracts Of Bradley Chubb And Courtland Sutton Till Post Draft

While the Denver Broncos still have plenty of work to do when it comes to figuring out who they will take in Thursday's draft, they also have post-draft decisions to make on some key players.

One such player is outside linebacker Bradley Chubb, whose fifth year option for the 2022 NFL campaign will be up on May 3rd.

There's little chance that the Broncos will NOT pickup the option on Chubb, as he is a key member of the Denver defense. He put up 7.5 sacks last year.

He's played in 34 games in three seasons, missing a majority of 2019 (12 games) due to injury. In 2018, he was solid on the outside, putting up 12 sacks combined with 60 overall tackles.

USA Today reports that if Chubb's option is picked up, he'll earn $12.716 million in the 2022 season.

Another player Denver has to think about is wide receiver Courtland Sutton. In 2020, Sutton missed all but one game after suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Two years ago, Sutton was a surprise big play guy at receiver, pulling in 72 passes for 1112 yards and six touchdowns.

He caught 42 passes for 702 yards and four scores in his rookie year of 2018.

“They’re two of our core guys, and we want them here a long time,” general manager George Paton said of Chubb and Sutton last Thursday.

“We’re not going to address that until after the draft. We’re strictly focused on the draft, but those are two of our guys.”

Look for Denver to have a very busy draft week, as they need to get that 9th overall pick right, and then they'll worry about their two vets as they look to get back into the playoff hunt in 2021.
