Bills Mafia Is Doing Great Things For Kids In Need

Remember how Bills Mafia started donating $17 to the Oishei Children’s Hospital in honor of Josh Allen's grandmother, who passed away in November? Of course you do. It was another one of those special moments in the history of a fan movement that includes pouring donations into Andy Dalton's charity after he helped end the Bills playoff drought back in 2018.

The Mafia might be about destroying folding tables and beers, but they have big hearts. The football gods have responded by placing Allen and his huge arm with a franchise that was desperate for a savior. The quarterback position is locked up, the AFC East is locked up and it was announced Monday that the children of Buffalo continue to be taken care of by the Mafia.

Oishei Children’s announced Bills fan Sue McCollum signed over $217,000 to the hospital to push the total from the Josh Allen grandmother campaign over $1 million in donations.

“I am grateful to be able to make this gift in honor of my late parents, Frederick D. and Joan R. McCollum. My parents loved their family, their hometown and we grew up knowing Sundays were made for Buffalo Bills football!” McCollum said in the Oishei announcement. “They’d be proud to know they are joining the Bills Mafia in honoring Josh Allen’s own grandmother and in doing great things for the kids in Buffalo.”

Josh Allen got the news before going out and destroying the New England Patriots for the Bills first sweep of their nemesis since 1999. Allen was three when that last happened.

“I was watching the news over the past month and couldn’t believe what I was seeing, said McCollum. “I knew I could jump on this Bills bandwagon!”

According to the hospital's announcement, McCollum has a personal connection to the facility. Her great-nephew has a rare autoimmune disease and visits the hospital once a month for infusions.

And it should be noted that Sue owns two Anheuser-Busch distributors in South Florida. Bills fans will likely drink those distributors dry after this announcement.

“I have always rooted for the underdog, for those fighting to overcome the odds, and so many of the kids at Oishei Children’s Hospital do just that. I hope this fund continues to grow. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the holidays knowing I was able to help these kids, while honoring my parents, Colleen’s grandparents and my great nephew’s great grandparents. Watching the Bills win the AFC East title was pretty great too, I have no doubt my parents heard the cheers,” Sue said.
