Bills Beat 49ers, Get First MNF Victory Since 90s

It has been awhile since the Buffalo Bills have won a Monday Night Football game. Over 20 years, to be exact.

Well, that ridiculously long drought has officially come to an end.

Buffalo was dominant against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night. The final score was 34-24, but the Bills were clearly the better team. Their record has now improved to 9-3, which means a second consecutive 10-win season is within reach.

This time, it might include an AFC East crown.

Quarterback Josh Allen continues to impress in his third season in the NFL. He went 32 of 40 (80 percent) for 375 yards and four touchdowns. All of those scores went to different players, too.

San Francisco's roster has been depleted by injuries and issues with COVID-19. Without Jimmy Garoppolo, George Kittle, Nick Bosa and several other important pieces, the 49ers have had some difficult outings this season.

SF was also affected by the Santa Clara County decision that has forced the team out of their own city and made them play "home games" away from their Levi Stadium home.

Even with these disadvantages, the 49ers were still favored heading into this game, though it's difficult to know why. The Bills set the record straight on the field. Buffalo is a good team capable of making a push.

The Bills have weapons in the passing game, such as Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis and tight end Dawson Knox. The group combined for 317 yards and three scores against San Francisco, and Beasley put up over 100 yards in the first half alone.

The defense was also opportunistic with two interceptions, including this wild one from safety Micah Hyde.

So, Buffalo now has its first Monday Night Football victory since the 90s. The next step is to get that first playoff victory since the 90s, too.
