Bill O'Brien Fired By Texans After Putting Them in Long-Term Mess

What a difference four losses can make. During the offseason, Texans owner Cal McNair was touting as "bold" many of Bill O'Brien's strange decisions, including one to trade away their best receiver, DeAndre Hopkins. Now, the Texans are 0-4, and O'Brien has been fired:

The Texans cannot rebuild through the draft, as their first- and second-round picks belong to the Miami Dolphins, thanks to trades for Laremy Tunsil and Kenny Stills. They better hope they can lure a wunderkind coach in the offseason because the roster is going to be rough for years. They do have Deshaun Watson locked up, but there is no guarantee that he stays healthy. And if there are no other offensive weapons around him, he won't be able to do much anyway.

You could tell just by the look on O'Brien's face after they lost at home to the Minnesota Vikings that he was out of answers. He seemed to know he was gone, despite having a strong relationship with the team ownership.

O'Brien's likely interim replacement, Romeo Crennel, has six years of NFL head coaching experience with the Browns and Chiefs. His lifetime record as a head coach is 28-55.
