Bears Looking At Bills DC Leslie Frazier If Matt Nagy Is Fired

As Bears head coach Matt Nagy's seat heats up, a potential replacement has come to the surface.

ESPN's Dan Graziano is reporting that Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier will be a name to watch in the Bears head coaching sweepstakes if Nagy is fired. The Bears sit at 4-8, third place in the NFC North. Nagy, 43, is 32-28 in four seasons as head coach.

Frazier, 62, has been with the Bills since Sean McDermott took over as head coach in 2017. Under Frazier, the Bills defense has ranked in the top five in total defense three times, No. 1 currently this season.

Frazier's NFL coaching career began in 1999 when he served as defensive backs coach under head coach Andy Reid. Frazier had stops with the Bengals (2003-04) and Colts (2005-06) before finding stability with the Vikings. Frazier served as defensive coordinator under head coach Brad Childress from 2007-10.

Childress was fired after starting the 2010 season 3-7 and Frazier was named interim head coach. After finishing the season 3-3, Frazier was named head coach for the 2011 season. Frazier was fired after the 2013 season, finishing 21-32-1 with a playoff appearance in 2012.

Upon his firing, Frazier became the defensive coordinator for the Buccaneers under head coach Lovie Smith. After two underwhelming seasons, Frazier's 2016 option was not picked up. He had a brief stint with the Ravens in 2016 before landing with McDermott.

Frazier reportedly interviewed for the Texans head coaching vacancy during the offseason. Houston hired David Culley instead and Frazier stayed put in Buffalo.
