Baltimore Ravens Rookie Rashod Bateman To Have Groin Surgery
The Baltimore Ravens will be minus rookie pass catcher Rashod Bateman, as the former University of Minnesota receiver will have to have surgery for a soft tissue injury to his leg.
Bateman suffered a groin injury in practice last week, Coach John Harbaugh said Thursday. Harbaugh said he expects Bateman to be able to be back on the field at some point in September.
"This is tough with it being the first injury in my career, but I trust that God has a plan for me," Bateman posted on his Instagram.
"The future is bright, and this is just a small bump in the road. My eyes are set on getting right back to help this team. Be back soon."
The Ravens are hopeful that Bateman can step in and be one of their top receivers for quarterback Lamar Jackson after he recovers.
When healthy in camp, Bateman showed exactly what he can do. He combined with Jackson to make plays that had plenty of fans and media talking about his potential.
