Are Deshaun Watson, Brian Flores Headed To Giants?
Could Deshaun Watson and former Miami Dolphins' Brian Flores be headed to the New York Giants?
It's been just over a week since the Fins fired Flores, but NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that the two have been in "constant communication trying to navigate a scenario where they go to the same team."
Schultz said Watson “trusts and likes” Flores and is adamant internally saying he’d like to play for Flores next season.
While Watson still faces 22 civil lawsuits in which he is accused of sexually assaulting or engaging in sexually inappropriate behavior during massage sessions — and new reports suggest he has attempted to pay for his accusers’ silence — the league and Houston police are still conducting investigations.
The 26-year-old quarterback, who officially requested a trade before the first civil suit was filed, has denied all allegations since they've been made.
Watson sat out every game this season despite collecting his $10 million salary, and Schultz reports the QB has internally expressed a strong interest to play for the Giants, under Flores, with a chance to re-establish himself.
The New York Giants fired head coach Joe Judge on Jan. 11 after he led the team through a disappointing 4-13 season and six straight losses. New York Giants‘ Dave Gettleman announced last week he is retiring as the organization’s senior vice president and general manager. NFL.com. reports the team has conducted interviews for the GM search.
While Flores has already been on the radar of other teams — completing interviews for the head coaching vacancies with the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans — the Giants seem to be focused solely on their GM search, for now.
