Alex Smith Named Comeback Player Of The Year, But It Somehow Wasn't Unanimous

Alex Smith was the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year the moment he took the field for the Washington Football Team. After returning from a gruesome leg injury, there was no other logical choice.

To be honest, I wouldn't be opposed to renaming the award after him.

The voting should have been unanimous, but it somehow wasn't. Instead, one of the 50 voters decided to give it to Ben Roethlisberger. Yes, his 2020 season included a noteworthy, bounce-back performance, but come on.

This was a no-brainer, and it's wild that we're even discussing this. It should be all about Smith and his incredible comeback. Close to 20 surgeries, life-threatening infections that almost cost him his leg, and it took him a couple years to bounce back.

Big shoutout and congratulations for Smith, but we need a name. It's time for some good ole fashioned public shaming.
