Adrian Peterson Still Searching For Super Bowl Ring, Not Ready To Retire

Future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson, 36, wants to keep playing in the NFL. He recently said that winning a Super Bowl ring drives him to stay in shape and stay ready for teams to call.

“Yeah, I’ve been chasing it (Super Bowl) for a long time,” Peterson said. “It would be nice to finally get one. The training is going well, and I’m going to control the things that I can control right now, and, when that time comes, somebody will give me a call.”

A free agent after playing last season for the Detroit Lions and rushing for 604 yards and seven touchdowns, Peterson believes that his legendary training regimen and diet will continue to keep him employable in a sport where youth is everything.

"That's all I'm asking for. My body feels good. I came out healthy from last season. My body feels strong. I still feel young. I still feel good. I'm ready to play ball," the seven-time Pro Bowler said.

Another goal in sight for Peterson is climbing the all-time rushing record ladder. He ranks fifth on the league's all-time rushing list with 14,820 career yards, behind Emmitt Smith (18,355 yards), Walter Payton (16,726 yards), Frank Gore (16,000 yards) and Barry Sanders (15,269 yards).

If a team comes calling, it will likely be during the season and due to an injury to a current roster player. If Peterson is deadly serious about wanting to play for a contender, then his options shrink even further. The Kansas City Chiefs could conceivably come calling if second-year back Clyde Edwards-Helaire needs a backup and none of their training camp options pan out. The Miami Dolphins have also been rumored to need a durable backup running back.
