Adrian Peterson Released In Washington, Could Be The End For 'All Day'

The Adrian Peterson era could officially be over now that the Washington Football Team has released the 35-year-old with over 3,000 carries on his resume. Peterson, who started 15 games in 2019 and had 898 yards rushing, was valued for his leadership by coach Ron Rivera, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, but it was a packed running back room and Peterson was the odd man out in 2020.

Now comes the big question: Will Peterson hang up the cleats? Remember, it was revealed in 2019 that Peterson was pretty much broke and unable to pay back loans totaling around $6.6 million with interest. 'All Day' has made around $100 million playing in the league, but bad financial decisions have left him trying to pay off debts, including one to DeAngelo Vehicle Sales LLC in McAdoo, Pennsylvania. That was in 2019 and it remains unclear whether Peterson has untangled his financial woes.

That said, Pelissero reports Peterson "intends to keep climbing the all-time rushing list elsewhere."  It's quite a situation the future Pro Football Hall of Famer finds himself in. It wasn't that long ago Peterson was on top of a camel at his 30th birthday party and leading the league in rushing.

Frank Gore is 37 (3rd on all-time rushing list) was able to find work with the Jets. Now we get to see if there's one more team that will bring in Peterson (5th, 1,053 yards behind Barry Sanders) and test out the treads on one of the all-time greats.
