A Return To Chicago Unlikely For Mitch Trubisky In 2021 Minus A Long Playoff Run

There has been plenty of speculation as to the future of Chicago Bears former first-round pick quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, with nothing certain being decided on what happens to him after this season.

Trubisky has been a big reason the Bears are in the position they are in, setting up for a wild card playoff game against the New Orleans Saints, but that might not be enough to keep him as the team's starter for 2021.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport stated Sunday morning on "NFL GameDay Morning" that the team isn't sold on Trubisky, and that they will have a sit down with the quarterback after the season, whenever that may be.

A win over the Saints could be a big factor in Trubisky staying in Chicago, but a quick exit could give the team move leverage in moving on from the former second overall pick.

The Bears declined the fifth-year option already on Trubisky, and made it clear they were unhappy with his play with the pickup of Nick Foles before the start of the 2020 season.

The team did start Trubisky to begin the year, but he was replaced after he struggled out of the gate and he was benched against Atlanta in week three.

After Foles couldn't get the job done going 2-5, the team put Trubisky back in and he was able to give the team a spark, helping them make it to the playoffs as a wild card.

Where they go this offseason with Trubisky is going to be interesting, as the team has a tough decision on a player they have spent a lot on in terms of a draft pick and time molding into a player they hope can become a top 10 NFL quarterback.
