49ers' Raheem Mostert Out For The Season, Rookie Elijah Mitchell To Start Week Two

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that 49ers running back Raheem Mostert is out for the season with a knee injury. He injured that knee during Week 1's narrow 41-33 win over the Detroit Lions.

Bringing in rookie quarterback Trey Lance just got more complicated, now that he has less to rely on out of the backfield.

Now, rookie Elijah Mitchell, who was one of just five backs to truck for 100 yards during Week 1, slates to start in his place. Regardless of how the sixth-rounder fills Mostert's shoes, the San Francisco 49ers are thin at tailback.

RB Jeff Wilson Jr. is anticipating an October return, but as of now, Mitchell is the guy until further notice. The injury bug always somehow bites harder every year.
