2021 NFL Salary Cap Has Been Determined

NFL free agency is set to get underway a week from today on Wednesday, March 17. With the COVID-19 pandemic taking its toll on the league's revenue and subsequent salary cap numbers, many wondered what the salary cap would be set at for the 2021 season.

We knew it would decrease from the $198.2 million from 2020, but by how much? Well, it looks like we finally have an answer. According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the number comes in at $182.5 million.

That's obviously a stark difference, but some had predicted it to be even lower than that.

The NFL and NFLPA had agreed that the minimum would be $180 million, so that extra $2.5 million helps a little bit. Don't get me wrong, there are still going to be several massive contracts cleared off the books this week, but it at least helps.

Now that teams have an exact number, expect roster decisions to start coming in more regularly.
