Watch: Clay Travis Makes His Pick For College Football Coach Of The Year

OutKick founder Clay Travis pegged Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman as the frontrunner for Coach of the Year, during his Saturday appearance on OutKick The Tailgate with Jonathan Hutton and Jill Savage.

Broadcasting from Tuscaloosa, the site of No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 12 Ole Miss at 3:30 p.m., Travis praised the job Pittman has done at Arkansas this season. Pittman, during his second season as head coach, has the Razorbacks at 4-0 with two top-25 wins. A 41-20 victory over Texas proved that Arkansas could hang, but a 20-10 win over Texas A&M proved to Travis that the Razorbacks are for real.

Travis likened Pittman's journey to that of former Tennessee head coach, Phillip Fulmer. Both Pittman and Fulmer had a background as offensive line coaches before being tasked with turning around struggling SEC programs. Fulmer got it going at Tennessee and won a National Championship in 1998, while Arkansas snapped a 20-game losing streak against SEC opponents last season and now has its highest ranking since 2012.

"I think what Sam Pittman has done, is he has a great offensive coordinator in Kendal Briles, who is running his dad, Art's, Baylor system at Arkansas, which has obviously been much copied all over college football," Travis said. "And then, Barry Odom, who is a former head coach at Missouri and a longtime really super successful defensive coordinator, I think that combination of great offensive and defensive coordinator has allowed the foundation of Arkansas football to be really strong, where they're going to get the best out of both sides of the ball there."

Both sides are clearly in sync this season, as Arkansas is 19th in the nation in total offense and 12th in total defense.
