Virginia Tech CB Caleb Farley Sidelined Following Microdiscectomy Procedure

One of the big names for April's NFL Draft is going to be on the shelf for awhile following a medical procedure.

Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley will have a microdiscectomy Tuesday, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus.

The procedure will be performed by back specialist Robert Watkins, and Farley will not participate in his pro day on Friday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport states that Farley's operation will be an outpatient procedure, meaning he'll leave the hospital today and return to Blacksburg, Virginia. He will then be available to meet with teams on Friday.

Farley was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference's First Team for his play in 2019. He then sat out of the 2020 season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and prepared for the 2021 draft.

Most mocks have Farley selected in the top ten of the first round, but it remains to be seen how this procedure will affect Farley's draft status.

Farley had 56 tackles, six interceptions and 19 passes defensed in 23 games.
