Video: Sarah Fuller Converts First Extra Point Attempt, Ties Game At 7-7
Sarah Fuller will continue to be in the news cycle. On Saturday, the Vanderbilt kicker attempted her first-career extra point against the Tennessee Vols, and she converted it.
She has now become the first woman to score a point in Power Five history.
It came with approximately a minute left in the first quarter after quarterback Ken Seals hit wide receiver Cam Johnson for an 18-yard score. With her conversion, the game was tied up at 7-7 heading into the second quarter.
The Commodores tweeted out the special moment.
This is the first game Vanderbilt has played since Fuller's college football debut against Missouri on Nov. 28. The following game against Georgia was postponed due to issues related to COVID-19 with the Dores.
Saturday also marks the team's first game since 2014 without now former head coach Derek Mason, who was fired only a day later on Nov. 29. Todd Fitch is currently acting as the interim head coach until a new hire is made.
It is interesting, however, that Fuller isn't the one kicking field goals. Pierson Cooke just converted a 39-yard field goal to give the Commodores the lead. And as OutKick owner Clay Travis pointed out, if he can kick field goals, why can't he kick extra points?
Something to ponder.
