Utah QB Charlie Brewer Leaves Program After 3 Games
Baylor transfer quarterback Charlie Brewer, who has played just three games, has now left the Utah Utes football program.
Brewer was benched in the third quarter of Utah’s loss to San Diego State. KSL Sports reports that Cam Rising went in for Brewer at QB and led the Utes to an impressive comeback that eventually led to triple overtime.
The outlet received the following statement from head coach Kyle Whittingham on Tuesday morning.
KSL Sports reports the news came after Utah released their depth chart for the Washington State game, which had Rising as the starter and Ja’Quinden Jackson as the backup.
Brewer went 14-of-26 passing for 104 yards and one interception before getting benched against San Diego State.
Brewer threw for 484 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions through three games as a Ute.
Utah will open Pac-12 play on Sept. 25 against Washington State at Rice-Eccles Stadium with kickoff at 12:30 p.m. MDT on the Pac-12 Network.
