Texas Fires Head Coach Tom Herman, Steve Sarkisian Expected Replacement

Tom Herman's time as the head coach at Texas has come to an end. According to a tweet from Pete Thamel at Yahoo Sports, the Longhorns will have to pay a $15 million buyout for Herman, and nearly $24 million total when including his staff.

Fortunately for Texas, the replacement might already be in place. Chip Brown with 247Sports sent out a tweet on Saturday morning saying that Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian was expected to take the job.

This is huge news, as there was a growing belief that Herman would remain in Austin for at least one more season. The news of the Sarkisian hire is also shocking, as there had been no reported connection between the two parties.

With Alabama on its way to another national title appearance in nine days, it will be interesting to see if head coach Nick Saban is able to hang on to his play-caller for at least one more game.
