Super Bowl Winning HC Brian Billick Returning To Sidelines As College Assistant

Along with names like Gary Kubiak and Doug Pederson, Brian Billick is a mostly forgotten Super Bowl winning head coach. But this fall, he’ll have the chance to make a name for himself once again, this time as an assistant coach in the Pac-12 conference.

On Monday, Billick was named an offensive analyst and advisor to Arizona State’s head coach Herman Edwards. Billick’s role with the Sun Devils is his first coaching gig since Baltimore fired him after the 2007 season.

“I’ve known Brian for over 20 years and I am confident that his presence at ASU as an Offensive Analyst and contributions as an Advisor to Herm (Edwards) will add great value to our program,” said ASU Vice President for University Athletics, Ray Anderson via  press release.

With Billick, the Arizona State staff now has three former NFL head coaches: Edwards, who coached both the Jets and Chiefs, and Marvin Lewis, formerly the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals and defensive coordinator for Billick’s Ravens, which won Super Bowl XXXV.

“Brian has one of the brightest offensive minds in football today and that is especially why I hired him,” said Edwards. “He will serve as a valuable resource to our entire coaching staff, but specifically to our offensive staff.”

Following his NFL coaching days, Billick was a regular part of the league’s coverage, first for FOX, then NFL Network.

He owns a not-so-easy to forget career coaching record of 80-64, that includes a Super Bowl title.
