SEC Coaches Who Cracked The CBS Sports Top 25 Coaching Rankings

CBS Sports recently released its rankings for the top 25 coaches in college football. Granted, the pool consists only of Power Five coaches, but the list probably wouldn't have too many non-Power Five teams represented on it, even if they had been included.

Unsurprisingly, seven-time national championship winning coach Nick Saban topped the list. But what about some of the other coaches in the SEC? As much as it might shock some people, Georgia coach Kirby Smart didn't check in as the second-best coach from the SEC.

Instead, it was another coach with a national title under his belt. One whose team also just finished in the top 5 of the 2020 season. Sound familiar? Here are all six of the SEC coaches ranked in the top 25:

1. Nick Saban, Alabama

6. Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M

7. Kirby Smart, Georgia

10. Dan Mullen, Florida

11. Ed Orgeron, LSU

22. Mark Stoops, Kentucky

Arguing with any of these rankings is difficult. Orgeron deserved to drop out of the top 10 after the 5-5 finish in 2020, but at least he didn't fall too far. On the other hand, seeing Stoops get some recognition is good to see. He's done a fantastic job at Kentucky.
