Sam Ehlinger Leaves Alamo Bowl with Shoulder Injury

Tuesday's bowl games have claimed their second college quarterback star. First, it was Miami's D'Eriq King leaving the Cheez-It Bowl with a leg injury. Now, it's Sam Ehlinger.

According to Brian Davis with the Austin American-Statesman, the Texas quarterback has officially been ruled out of the Alamo Bowl due to a shoulder injury.

We know King is expected to be back next season, but Ehlinger's status is still up in the air. Some say he might return, but more than likely, this will be his last game as a Longhorn. It's not the way anyone should have to go out, especially someone with Ehlinger's history.

Prior to his exit, the senior had completed 10 of his 16 pass attempts (62.5 percent) for 160 yards and a touchdown. His replacement, sophomore Casey Thompson, has completed his only attempt, which went for a score as well.

Texas currently leads Colorado 24-10 early in the third quarter.
