Retooled Bama To Strut Stuff During Annual A-Day Game

Here's a shocker: Alabama's defense this spring has been described as "dominant." OK, maybe that's not such a surprise, given that the Crimson Tide are coming off another national championship.

Anyway, fans will get to see what that defense has become, as well as what's new on offense, during Alabama's A-Day Game on Saturday (ESPN, noon EST).

Defensively, outside linebackers Will Anderson and Christopher Allen have been among the most impressive, per Matt Zenitz of AL.com. Offensively, all eyes will be on quarterback Bryce Young, the highest-rated quarterback recruit of the Nick Saban era.

Young has been working with Alabama's first team throughout the spring and threw four touchdown passes in the team's first scrimmage and three more in the second.

Another area to watch, of course, is wide receiver. The Crimson Tide have lost Heisman winner DeVonta Smith to the NFL, and today, the position remains a fairly open competition.

"While the competition at wide receiver will continue through the summer and fall camp, A-Day will be a chance for some of these young guys like Javon Baker to further make an impression with the coaching staff," Zenitz wrote.

In other words, it looks to be more of the same at Alabama: lots of talented returnees, more big-time recruits and a widely respected coach. And fans will get their first look at how it all shapes up this weekend.
