Pro Football Doc: Ole Miss QB Matt Corral Leaves Sugar Bowl With Apparent Ankle Injury

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Matt Corral went down with a right leg injury with two minutes remaining in the first quarter of the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Baylor defensive tackle Cole Maxwell pursued Corral out of the pocket and rolled up on the quarterback's leg. Corral grimaced on the field after the tackle, unable to get up and eventually carted back to the locker room.

OutKick's ProFootballDoc reacted to the video of Corral's injury, which he saw as high ankle damage rather than an ACL injury — which has been an issue for Corral in the past.

Freshman backup quarterback Luke Altmyer will fill in as the interim starter for the evening. Corral was applauded as he emerged from the locker room on crutches.

The QB has been tough as nails all season: playing through a nagging ankle injury and fighting to get back on the field after getting carted off in a game against Auburn on Oct. 30.

All eyes are on April as Corral is projected to be a top pick at the quarterback position in the 2022 NFL Draft.
