OutKick The Tailgate: Alabama An Underdog Against Georgia
No. 1 Georgia and No. 3 Alabama are set to square off in the SEC Championship Game at 4:00 p.m. on CBS, with the Crimson Tide in unfamiliar territory.
As OutKick's Chad Withrow pointed out on OutKick the Tailgate on Saturday from STATS Brewpub in Atlanta, Alabama is a Vegas underdog for the first time since 2015, spanning 92 games.
"A tad bit shocking that the storyline coming into this game is can Alabama keep it close," Withrow said. "We didn't think we'd see that with either of these teams. When the season kicked off we're thinking, 'can we go ahead and get to Alabama and Georgia, the inevitable SEC Championship and have that absolute war?'"
While many are counting out Alabama and saying they're not the typical Nick Saban team, OutKick's Jonathan Hutton said that's been put on by the fans' expectations.
"That makes today exciting," Hutton said. "Because Georgia is the favorite, Georgia's undefeated for the first time since 1980, they've been ridiculed about that year and how long it's been since they won the national title... and Bama's trying to get in the playoff as well."
