Oklahoma State Is Ready To Run The Ball In 2021

Oklahoma State intends to go back to an old brand of football for 2021 -- and that would be to run the ball. Then run it some more.

And why not? The Cowboys believe they have an entire fleet of talented running backs returning.

"It's special. Especially when you have four," offensive lineman Josh Sills told reporters. "You have LD (Brown), you have Dez (Jackson), you have Dominic (Richardson) and then you have Jaylen (Warren). That's just, in my opinion, the most impressive running back room in the country. Each one has their own shake and sugar that they put on everything. They're all really quick. Just the dynamic that they bring to our offense, as far as not only playing running back, but you can move them out to the slot. They move well in space. Pretty special."

Oklahoma State finished 8-3 overall, and 6-3 in the Big 12. Longtime coach Mike Gundy and the rest are just mostly feeling good about the fact that, like most Division I programs, they have returned to spring practice.

"It's huge, my position specifically, (there are) a lot of young guys," said Cowboys fullback Logan Carter, who is used primarily as a blocker. "If we'd have been in this same position last year, no spring, guys as young as we are, I'm the only guy with much playing time coming in, it would've been hectic in the fall trying to get guys ready.

"So, this is really good. I mean, it's very important to a football season and I think it showed last year, the teams that prepared good in the fall or did what they could in the spring had a good season, and the teams that didn't have much going on kind of struggled early on in the season and then picked up. So, this is, I mean, very important for the season."
