Oklahoma Bounces Back in Thrilling 4-OT Win Against Texas

Texas was down 14 points to Oklahoma in the annual Red River Rivalry with less than five minutes to go in the fourth quarter. But the Longhorns were able to get two late touchdown passes from quarterback Sam Ehlinger to send the game to overtime.

Surprisingly enough, this would only be the beginning of a back-and-forth that would push the game to four different overtimes, which even included both teams missing field goals in the third overtime to force Round 4.

Ultimately, it was Oklahoma who prevailed after scoring and having to go for two in the fourth overtime. Texas followed it up with a game-losing, second interception from Ehlinger. With the win, the Sooners evened its record back up at 2-2 while forcing Texas to drop its second straight game.

This is the sort of rivalry game we were hoping for after seeing the two teams start the season a combined 3-3 with a 1-3 record in the Big 12.

Neither quarterback was overly impressive through the air, as each averaged less than six yards per attempt. But the two combined for 163 yards and five scores on the ground. Ehlinger had 113 of those yards and four of those touchdowns.

At the end of day, this was a much-needed win for Oklahoma after losing two straight. The Sooners defense did look great, but it did get stops when it needed to.

Spencer Rattler isn't Baker Mayfield or Kyler Murray yet. But he should get there, especially with throws like this one:
