Missouri Lands $10M Gift for Indoor Football Facility After Employees Are Laid Off

Good news came the way of the University of Missouri. As the AP reports, the school's athletic department received a $10 million donation from an anonymous donor on Tuesday.

The gift comes less than a month after the Board of Curators approved a study for the construction of a new indoor football practice facility. Missouri is the only member of the SEC without a full-size indoor practice facility.

“As the SEC’s furthest-most Northern school, it is critical that our program have a full length indoor practice facility to utilize year-round, and this gift, coupled with the Board of Curators’ action earlier this month, gives this project great momentum,” athletic director Jim Sterk says.

Critical, huh? That won't sit well with all the university's employees who were cut this summer. As first reported by the Columbia Missourian, the University of Missouri hit a total of 117 layoffs and 2,129 furloughs in the month of June.

We do hope the players and coaching staff enjoy the new $10 million donation and the subsequent indoor facility, though.
