Mark Stoops Saves Himself a Fine By Tip Toeing Around Blown Call
Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops was still fuming Wednesday that running back Chris Rodriguez was called down short of the end zone during the second quarter in a 29-13 loss at Auburn. Two plays later, Kentucky threw an interception and the game took a drastic turn.
The SEC took a look at the play, and Stoops decided to hold onto his money rather than criticize the decision publicly and take a fine.
“Yeah, I did (hear from the SEC),” Stoops said during the weekly SEC teleconference. “Got an explanation from the league, and I’m really not permitted to reveal what that discussion went like. I don’t really want to part with the cash if I really vented and told you what I was thinking about so I can’t really talk about it.”
