Landon Dickerson Snapping Alabama's Final Play Is a Cool Moment
Landon Dickerson, Alabama's center who tore his ACL in the SEC Championship Game, suited up for Alabama tonight. Everyone was kind of shocked to see him in uniform on the sidelines during pregame, but it turned out he just wanted to be there with his teammates. He wasn't going to actually play.
That was the case until the final snap of the game, with Alabama in kneel-down mode after destroying Ohio State, 52-24. That's when Saban put Dickerson, who won this season's Rimington Trophy, which is awarded to the nation's best center, in to make the final snap of the game.
While Dickerson would, of course, have preferred not to have suffered a knee injury and thus to have played in the whole game, he will have a great memory for the rest of his life. He participated in this national championship victory, even if it was just in a ceremonial capacity. This was a cool move by Nick Saban.
