Justin Fields Making Early Statement For Buckeyes

It is the first game of the season for Ohio State. That means the Buckeyes have some making up to do after seeing other conferences work through at least 4-5 games already. Well, quarterback Justin Fields is willing to make up for lost time.

The former five-star prospect has started the game 7-for-7 for 117 yards and a score. He's also added 38 yards on seven carries as well. This 42-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Garrett Wilson was a thing of beauty.

Since giving up the first score of the game to Nebraska, Ohio State has now scored 14 straight to take control with a 14-7 lead. The reason? Justin Fields.

The Kennesaw, Ga. native is clearly the best player on the field for either team, and he's proving that he should once against be a strong contender for the Heisman Trophy. Whether it's on the ground or through the air, he has been unstoppable early.

Freshman quarterback Luke McCaffrey, the younger brother of Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, is an effective rushing option to complement Adrian Martinez. But will it be enough for the Cornhuskers to keep it close?

Not if Fields has anything to say about it.
