Jarrett Guarantano Is Transferring To Wazzu. He Does Know Mike Leach Isn’t There, Right?

Former Tennessee quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has chosen where he will finish up his college career. After five seasons in Knoxville, the grad transfer is moving on to Washington State.

It's an interesting choice for the longtime Vol.

His time in Knoxville included some success, but it also included a few low points as well. He finished his Tennessee career with 6,174 passing yards, 38 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He also added another five scores on the ground, four of which came in 2020.

Guarantano announced the news of his decision on Friday afternoon.

Guarantano never had any stability in Knoxville. During his five years, he had four different offensive coordinators, and could never get anything going consistently. Some of that lack of growth and development falls on Guarantano, but some of it doesn't.

Now, he will look finish his sixth and final season on a high note. But that won't come under Mike Leach, who is now at Mississippi State. Instead, it will be with first-year Cougars head coach Nick Rolovich, who came over from Hawaii.

But I'm sure Guarantano already knew that.

Freshman Jayden de Laura was Washington State's starter in 2020. He finished the team's four-game season with 886 yards passing (221.5 per game), five touchdowns and four interceptions.
