Heavy Winds Expected To Impact Army-Navy Showdown At MetLife Stadium
MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey will host the annual Army-Navy rivalry game on Saturday with weather expected to play a part.
With the two teams set for a 3 p.m. ET kickoff, wind will certainly be a factor. According to the National Weather Service, East Rutherford will be under a wind advisory at the same time toe meets leather. Sustained breezes of 11-13 mph are expected to persist throughout the game, with gusts of up to 28 mph. Rain chances remain low, however, with just a 30% chance beginning at 4 p.m. The high will reach 65 °F.
Both teams are well equipped to run the football, which will pay huge dividends in this one. Army (8-3) is No. 2 in rushing offense in the FBS, averaging 301.2 yards per game with an FBS leading 43 touchdowns. Navy (3-8), meanwhile, is No. 7 in rushing offense in the FBS, averaging 228.2 yards per game.
It will be the 121st meeting between the two teams, with Navy up 61-52-7 in the series. After 14 consecutive victories for Navy from 2002-15, Army has won four of the last five meetings. That includes the 15-0 shutout victory in 2020 at Michie Stadium in West Point, New York. This will be the fifth meeting in East Rutherford, the first since 2002.
