Georgia Has Top-Ranked Recruiting Class
The Georgia Bulldogs are back on top. Back in 2020, the Bulldogs signing class was rated as the best in the country. Then this past cycle, Kirby Smart's group dropped down to fourth. Not a bad haul by any means, but it's nice to be first.
Well, Georgia has overtaken Ohio State for the nation's top recruiting class for 2022, according to 247Sports. Granted, there is still a lot of time between now and National Signing Day in December, but it's more proof of the program's staying power right now.
No, there wasn't any additions to the current 12-man class. Instead, the jump comes from updated recruiting rankings from 247Sports.
Georgia has two five-star prospects committed, both in-state athletes. Deyon Bouie and Malaki Starks were both highly sought-after players, but both decided to stay home. Of the 12 commitments, seven of them rank inside the top-100 recruits.
Here are the seven blue-chip guys:
Really, only one other player out of that bunch is projected to join Stockton on the offensive side of the ball, and that's Bouie. While listed as an athlete, it's likely that the Bambridge native ends up at wide receiver.
That's obviously great news, but more is needed there. The defense continues to load up, and that's fantastic for a defensive-minded head coach. But of the 12 commitments, only three of them are considered offensive guys.
There's still plenty of time and targets out there, so there's no real need for panic. Fans just need to be on the look out for the dominoes to start falling there as well. To already have the top-rated class is impressive. Now it's just a matter of building on it.
