Former Steelers WR Ward Set To Join The Coaching Staff At Florida Atlantic

Longtime popular Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward is ready for the next chapter of his career, and ESPN reports that he's set to join the coaching staff of the Florida Atlantic Owls.

Ward is expected to work alongside new FAU wide receivers coach Joey Thomas, another former NFL and CFL player.

Ward was a member of the New York Jets coaching staff in 2019 and 2020.

The four-time Pro Bowler ended his NFL career with 1,000 receptions for 12,083 yards and 85 touchdowns in 217 career games.

He was the MVP of Super Bowl XL, catching five passes for 123 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown that put the Steelers ahead for good in their 21-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Ward was also a member of the Steelers roster in 2008 when the team defeated the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII.

The pass catcher was a third-round draft pick out of Georgia, where he twice earned All-SEC honors.

While at Georgia, Ward played for a coaching staff that included David Kelly, now Florida Atlantic's coordinator of player personnel.

Prior to working with the Jets, Ward worked with Steelers wide receivers as an offensive intern during the 2017 preseason.
