Former Oklahoma QB Austin Kendall Is Transferring Once Again

A top recruit out of Cuthbertson High School in Waxhaw, North Carolina, quarterback Austin Kendall has seen his prospects trend downward in the last four years, since entering Oklahoma as part of the 2016 class.

The former 4-Star player will now be joining his third team in the upcoming season as he tranfers to Louisiana Tech.

Playing for Oklahoma from 2016-2018, Kendall's supposed "bust" status with the Sooners carried into his two seasons with West Virginia, where he produced his best season in 2019 with 1,989 passing yards, 12 TDs and 10 INTs.

Kendall hopes that his new start at Louisiana Tech under head coach Skip Holtz, his first team outside of the Big 12 Conference, will help him find a groove reminiscent of his days as a potential Sooners star.

From the 247Sports report:

"Former Oklahoma and West Virginia quarterback Austin Kendall is transferring to Louisiana Tech, 247Sports’ Chris Hummer reported Thursday morning. Kendall, who served in a backup role to both Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray at Oklahoma, is entering his sixth year of eligibility.

"Kendall entered the NCAA transfer portal in January after spending the previous two seasons at West Virginia. In 2020, Kendall completed 11 of 23 passes (47.8%) for 164 yards and two touchdowns to zero interceptions."

Working to earn the starting job over fellow Bulldogs QBs Aaron Allen and Luke Anthony, Kendall's mission to mend his status as a 4-Star players sees new life outside of Morgantown.
