Former Auburn QB Bo Nix Transfers To Oregon

Three-year Auburn quarterback Bo Nix is joining Dan Lanning's Oregon Ducks, announced Sunday via his personal Instagram account. Nix declared his move to the transfer portal last week and is now headed to the Pac-12 over remaining in the SEC.

Nix reteams with Kenny Dillingham: new Oregon offensive coordinator and Nix's former coordinator as a freshman at Auburn. Dillingham spent only one season at Auburn, coached as an FSU coordinator for two seasons and was announced as the new Oregon OC on Friday.

Dillingham led Nix as the program's true freshman starter — winning SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 2019. That season, he passed for 2,542 yards, 16 touchdowns, six interceptions and achieved a completion percentage of 57.6.

According to the AL report, Dillingham's addition to the Oregon coaching staff became paramount in their bid to land Nix. Dillingham was all for the reunion. "Dillingham’s interest in potentially returning to Auburn was the opportunity to work with Nix again," the report noted. "Dillingham joined Lanning’s staff at Oregon earlier this week and didn’t waste time in recruiting his former quarterback on the Plains."

For the 2021 season, Nix completed 197 of 323 passes for 2,294 yards — adding 15 total touchdowns (11 passing) and three interceptions. His year came to an early end after fracturing his ankle against Mississippi State.

Bo's father, Patrick Nix, played quarterback at Auburn from 1992-95. Heir to the Nix legacy, Bo still mustered the interest to leave his home program — finding his new home after discussions with Oregon AD Rob Mullens.

Nix's story at Auburn began with a game-winning performance over the Ducks. He started his first game as a freshman and beat Oregon, 27-21. He led the No. 15 Tigers to a 9-4 record that season, also winning the Iron Bowl over No. 5 Alabama. The quarterback still has two years of eligibility left.
